At SAATBAU, our mission is to offer 100% guaranteed non-transgenic seeds, in keeping with the trend in agriculture toward natural, green and pesticide-free crops.
BIO seeds are grown in Europe on lots converted to organic farming by our 3000 producers and partners. Our organic seeds are produced by experienced organic farms in compliance with the required rules and procedures. Our lengthy experience and know-how in seed production, acquired both in the field and at our plant dedicated exclusively to seed production, are fundamental to organic agriculture. Our goal is to produce quality seeds to guarantee optimal emergence in cold, wet spring conditions.
Due to their northern origin, SAATBAU varieties are adapted to cold, wet spring conditions.
Their early vigour ensures:
• good population density in all conditions
• resistance to attacks from parasites
• rapid row recovery to limit competition from weeds
• major root development guaranteeing better soil use
SAATBAU genetics have been tested in all types of climates, including the Canadian continental climate, enabling us to select the best hybrids for dealing with the main pests and diseases in Canada.
Rapid and vigorous emergence, good root strength and population homogeneity are essential criteria for a good yield. The SAATBAU varieties are selected to bring these advantages to organic farming. The plants will be well established and ready to face drought or temporary water stress.
A perfect combination of genetics adapted to Canada. The selection of maize hybrids is made by combining many criteria: grain or forage yield, grain starch content, digestibility, disease tolerance, lodging tolerance, lodging resistance, etc.
For more than 30 years, SAATBAU LINZ has continuously invested in GMO-free soybean breeding. The main goal is to better adapt the soybean to the needs of domestic farmers, processors and consumers. Our breeding programme is aimed, among other things, at early maturity and good stability of the varieties. In addition to agronomic traits, new selection methods have also been developed that are particularly focused on quality.
