Growing Together – New Joint Venture: AMT Austria

Strategic Joint Venture Announcement: AMT-TAYEL GMBH and SAATBAU LINZ eGen

SAATBAU LINZ eGen, Austria’s leading agricultural cooperative with 75 years of experience in plant breeding and seed production, is proud to announce the formation of a joint venture with AMT-TAYEL Handels GmbH, a company with four decades of success in trading raw materials for the food industry and preserved foods.

This partnership marks a historic milestone, uniting a total of 115 years of industry experience serving the food economy across Austria, Central, and Eastern Europe. The new company will operate under the name AMT Austria GmbH, effective September 1, 2025.

The collaboration merges the legacy of AMT-TAYEL – founded by Mr. Ahmed Tayel and now managed together with his experienced children Jennifer and Ali Tayel – with the spices and baking seeds division of SAATBAU ERNTEGUT GmbH, known in the food industry for its reliable and sustainable harvest supply chains.

With strategic locations in Lower Austria, Upper Austria and near the Port of Hamburg, the joint venture has over 8,000 m² of storage space, high-performance silos, and modern processing facilities for both conventional and organic products. AMT’s new facility in Reichersdorf (Lower Austria) will be further expanded with an additional 7,000 m² of storage capacity and new processing technologies such as sterilization, grinding, and small-scale packaging.

AMT Austria positions itself as a leading provider of customized solutions across the food value chain – particularly in the areas of spices, herbs, baking ingredients, and preserved foods – combining state-of-the-art processing technology with regional roots and global partnerships.

Ahmed TAYEL

“Our family business is opening an important new chapter. This partnership strengthens our commitment to premium, value-added products and close collaboration with Austrian farmers—with the goal of continuously securing quality throughout the entire supply chain.” Mr. Tayel looks ahead optimistically: “I look forward to actively shaping the future of AMT Austria together with our partners and contributing to our clients’ success through innovative solutions.”

Josef FRAUNDORFER

Mr. Josef Fraundorfer, Managing Director of SAATBAU LINZ eGen, also sees this collaboration as a significant step: “Building on the experience of our member farms and the proven reliability of our subsidiary Erntegut, this joint venture strengthens a fully integrated value chain – from field to market.”

According to him, AMT Austria opens a new chapter in a future-proof, innovation-driven food supply:
“By joining forces with AMT-Tayel – a leading Central European trading company with deep roots and trusted partnerships in origin countries – we are reinforcing every level of the supply chain: from our farmers to global processors,” Fraundorfer concludes. “The comprehensive expertise and high quality standards that Mr. Ahmed Tayel has developed over decades provide a valuable foundation for our collaboration. Together, we are shaping a resilient, transparent, and forward-looking food industry.”
