Product development is responsible for the development and the positioning of new varieties. The close links with breeding, in combination with the requirements of the farmers, are the pillars for successfully developing new varieties.
In order to meet expectations, the suitability of the varieties for specific cultivation environments is tested in extensive trials in different climatic zones in Europe. The entry in the national register of varieties (e.g. by the BAES, the Austrian Authority for Food Safety) is thus only one part of our expertise in varieties. Through Europe-wide test networks it is possible to test our varieties for their reactions to a maximum of environmental influence factors in only a few years. The label ‘klimafit’ is only attributed if a variety delivers good performance under all the different climatic conditions. ‘Klimafit’ varieties are our contribution to a stable agricultural production.
